2024 Spring Season is On!

Lil Rugger’s Parents,

We are pleased to announce a new season of SJRC Rugby School at Cherry Hill and Washington Township Youth Rugby for ages 6-13!!

We have planned a series of Saturday sessions in Cherry Hill March 23-May 25th and Sicklerville from March 11th through May 25th.

Locations:

- 50 Fairmount Drive, Sicklerville, NJ 08081

- Rotary Sports Complex Cherry Hill NJ, 470 E Evesham Rd, Cherry Hill, NJ 08003

WASHINTON TOWNSHIP:

Below are the details for Rookie Rugby In Washing ton Township

Age: There will be two programs this spring. Flag for children 11 and under.

Cost: $25 per child for Flag.

There is a $10 fee charged for anyone cancelling from the program. 

Equipment: Soccer cleats and weather appropriate clothing 

Registration: Standard Registration is from Jan 3 through Mar 10 2024. There is a $10 late fee charged for anyone registering after March 11, 2024.

or Registration can also be done at the the Washington Township Parks & Recreation Office, Mon-Fri 8AM-5PM from Jan 3 through Mar 10.

Cherry Hill:

We have planned a 10 week session from March 23rd to May 25th.

Location: Garden State Rotary Complex 490 E Evesham Rd, Voorhees Township, NJ 08043

Below are the details for Rookie Rugby at Cherry Hill

Age: The program is intended for boys and girls turning 6 this year up to age 13

Time: Core Practices are from 8:30 am - 10:00 am  on Saturdays

Cost: $35 per child. Includes a Tshirt. 

Equipment: Soccer cleats and weather appropriate clothing 

Below are the details for U12 and U14 Tackle Rugby at Cherry Hill

Age: The program is intended for boys and girls turning 11 this year up to age 14

Time: Core Practices are Thursdays 6-7:30pm and 8:30-10:00 am  on Saturdays

Cost:  $100 per child. Includes a Tshirt. 

Equipment: Soccer cleats, mouth guard required  and weather appropriate clothing

Message from Coach Marc regarding Rugby School programs

Rookie Rugby and Ruggers Parents,

It is a continuing privilege for me to be able to coach every one of our rugger and support the coaching staff. We see tremendous improvements in fundamentals as well as significant performance increases in their rugby skills.

Spring and Fall 2023 seasons phenomenal with fun participation in competitions and tounaments that culminated in wins for our little players.

We have balanced our Rugby School with flag and tackle programs successfuly.

I hope we instilled in them the spirit of the game of rugby that we can summarize In personal excellence, success through team work, resilience and wholesome fun. Rugby is a life forming sport that will carry throughout. They have shown such positive attitude and dedication in practice and throughout the games and tournaments we have participated in.

I am very proud of all of them and cannot wait to continue building on the basics we acquired or perfected these past few seasons.

For all parents that attended away games and tournaments thank you for supporting the club and giving a huge time commitment. Your children took all the games and played extremely competitively in the spirit of fair play and always with a Rugby oriented camaraderie including how they interact with their teammates but also with coaches, refs and the opposite team. Kudos to our Lil Devils

Please encourage your young ruggers to stay fit and get in a few runs before the season starts. If they have a rugby ball invite them to work on ball handling and passing but most of all, look for rugby on line, You Tube or on official sites that provide highlights. Rugby 7 is awesome to watch and the USA team is phenomenal. Rugby Union leagues like the UK premiership, The French Top14, Super Rugby, etc... are great sources of best in class. If they can’t wait for the season there is also a few great Xbox or PlayStation rugby games with which they can practice and understand the game differently. I see these as great learning tools as well.

Don’t forget the 6 Nations Tournament is around the corner!!! Start Feb-March
