Former players of the South
Jersey Rugby Club founded the South Jersey Olde Guarde Rugby
Football Foundation(SJOG) in the fall of 1986. Founded
initially to promote Old Boys play, the SJOG rapidly evolved
into a group devoted to assisting the active club in the
management of the playing facility and the development of the
game of rugby to the youth of South Jersey and the student
athlete, directly. Your donations will provide education
assistance and academic tutoring to worthy student-athletes to
aid in their development on and off the field.
The Duffers Scramble, now
in its 21th year, has been our primary fundraiser.
The high school Boys and Girls have prospered under the
leadership of our charity, coaching and support In addition to
funding the development of youth rugby, The Duffers Scramble
also donates a major part of the proceeds from this event to the
Cerebral Palsy Center in Gloucester/Salem County, NJ. In
2006, proceeds of the tournament went to the CP Center and the
National Transplant Assistance Fund and the South Jersey Olde
Guarde Foundation. Total donations to date are
approaching $100,000.
The SJOG Rugby Football
Foundation earned designation as a 501(c)3 publicly supported
organization in June of 2002. Our charter as a charitable
organization has remained true to our original goals of
supporting the development of youth athletics and the game of
rugby in South Jersey. We will continue to support
organizations like the CP Center and the National Transplant
Assistance Fund, as the board of directors deems appropriate.
We promise to make every
effort to make this years event the best ever. The 2007 Duffers
Scramble will be held at Indian Springs on Friday, June
15, 2007. We trust you will find the 2006 Duffers
Scramble a worthwhile event to support with your marketing and
charitable funds. We will make available documentation for our
status as a charitable organization and provide gift receipts
upon request.
We look forward to your
support in 2007 and beyond.
